What is frac pond liner removal?
It is pulling the synthetic liner out of a frac pond once it is out of service, then cleaning up the pit and the soil around it. Because the liner held flowback or produced water, it is regulated oilfield waste that has to be profiled, manifested, and hauled by a permitted company.
Do I need to test the soil first?
If the soil under the pit has to move, it needs a TCLP test to classify it before disposal. We do not run the lab test, but we arrange the testing partner and set up the waste profile so the job keeps moving.
Where do the liner and soil go?
To a licensed disposal facility under RRC authorization, with a signed manifest for every load. We often dispose at Diamondback Landfill in Odessa, owned by our parent company, so the disposal side stays in house.
What permits does a frac pond removal company need?
Current RRC authorization, plus the credentials for special waste transport. We hold the EPA ID, RRC registration, IHW Transporter authorization, and Contaminated Soil Hauling License. Ask any hauler for those numbers in writing before you sign.
